Minutes of the Special Meeting of November 17, 2009
Minutes of the Special Meeting of the Borough of Newtown Zoning Commission on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Borough Room, Town Hall South, 3 Main Street, Newtown, Connecticut. Chairman Linda Shepard called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m.
Present: Linda Shepard, David Francis, Douglas Nelson and Brid Craddock. Also Present: Zoning Enforcement Officer Jean St. Jean and Borough Attorney Donald Mitchell.
Absent: Palmer Chiappetta and Lucy Sullivan.
1. Caraluzzi's re: outdoor merchandises: Mrs. St. Jean presented to the Commission the letter from Fire Marshal Bill Halstead that stated "we agreed that giving them 1' off the curb for merchandise would be acceptable, proving [providing] this area is clearly marked so the employees can observe where the area the merchandise can be placed and will not obscure the fire access".
2. Discussion took place regarding the traffic light on Queen Street by My Place. A letter is going to be received from Chief Kehoe.
3. Sign Applications:
a. Sign application from Wachovia for directional signs. Approved by Commission as presented.
b. Borough Historic Signs - presented as courtesy. The Commission thought the signs would make a nice addition to the Borough.
A motion was made by Mr. Nelson to approve minutes of the October 14, 2009 meeting, seconded by Mr. Francis and unanimously approved.
There being no other business to transact the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
